Imagine asking Shellac: "What do you pimp out your MySpace with?" It probably wouldn't be an answer of disdain, but a disgusted punch in the neck. In an era where indie rockers would rather dance than think, the sporadic blips from these Chicago iconoclasts punctuate even harder. Steve Albini and Bob Weston, both sound engineers by day — backed by Todd Trainer on drums, utilize homemade gear, an analog mindset, and heavy doses of sh*t-talking to create coldly harsh rock as a backdrop for violent, sarcastic lyrics. And live, the Shellac experience is kind of like being eviscerated by sheet metal.
