Molly Shanahan's 2007 solo production My Name is a Blackbird — recently revived to acclaim for a run at New York's Joyce SoHo — produced a virtual mountain of discoveries. But her view from the top brings us a return to ensemble work with the ongoing project Stamina of Curiosity, featuring a newly-formed quintet of dancers led by Shanahan. Radically receptive to the audience's energy and attention, the dancers that create Stamina's landscape of tensile structures and rich tangents do so within choreography built to accommodate information about the present moment. Shanahan's unique voice in the dance world calls the act of watching into question and proposes that the best answers may be found within the body itself.
