As evidenced by the outpouring of emotion at the untimely death of Michael Jackson, a true artist moves people on a profoundly personal level. So, too, with the late Shel Silverstein, the Chicago-born author and illustrator whose poetry (Where the Sidewalk Ends, A Light in the Attic) and prose (The Giving Tree, The Missing Piece) still resonate deeply with the generations of kids raised on his gentle wisdom. Tonight, Millennium Park celebrates its fifth anniversary with a tribute evening of song and spoken word from country legend Bobby Bare, indie superstar Will Oldham, word-jazz hero Ken Nordine, art-rocker Jon Langford, WBEZ's Steve Edwards, Ella "First Lady of Children's Music" Jenkins, and Patrick Hallahan of My Morning Jacket.
