Facets Cinémathèque says…

The End of the Line's tagline asks viewers to "imagine a world without fish," as the powerful Rupert Murray-directed documentary sniffs out the shifty business behind the world's increasingly exhausted food-fish supply. The film examines the technological warfare that has drained the world's oceans (one technique is likened to "plowing a field seven times a year"), the trendiness of sushi (a popular high-end sushi den is singled out as an irresponsible server of the much-endangered bluefin tuna), and, last but not least, corporate greed. While you'll never look at your favorite seafood dish the same way again, The End of the Line's ultimate message is not about damage, but about damage control, on a global scale.
