Tonight's installment of Dusk Variations welcomes Haitian-American artist Daniel Bernard Roumain for an eclectic, genre-defying performance with longtime collaborator DJ Elan Vytal. Roumain, who performs under the DBR moniker, melds traditional chamber music with funk, rock, hip-hop, and electronic flourishes for a fresh, multicultural take on classical music. The prolific violinist/composer is perhaps best known for his debut solo album, 2007's Etudes 4 Violin & Electronix, which featured an impressive array of guest artists, including avant-garde composer Philip Glass and experimental hip-hop musician DJ Spooky. The critically-acclaimed result fused disparate genres, styles, and technologies for an innovative musical expression that pushes the limits of chamber music.
