Schubas says…

The Horse's Ha takes their name — and the title of their debut album — from Dylan Thomas' macabre zombie story. But the folksy quintet's music couldn't be less evocative of a reanimated corpse. Indeed, the band's founding members, Zincs veteran James Elkington and Janet Beveridge Bean (of Freakwater and Eleventh Dream Day fame), make charming, jazz-infused pop that brims with understated beauty and laid-back good cheer. Standout tunes include "Asleep in a Waterfall," a cello-rich ballad with rootsy, alt-country flourishes and stunning harmonies, and "The Piss Choir," a brisk acoustic jam laden with up-tempo rhythms and a delicate guitar plucking galore. Tonight, the outfit celebrates the release of its Of the Cathmawr Yards album. Pop phenoms Castanets headline.
