Locals tend to love or hate the Taste: while it's a longstanding tradition that showcases our city's culinary diversity, it's also hot, crowded, (arguably) overpriced, and possibly hazardous to your health. But this Independence Day lineup of free music offers little to dislike, and there's nothing more quintessentially Chicago than Buddy Guy. There's a reason why folks queue around the block to see Guy when he headlines a show at his eponymous club — hailed as the chief progenitor of Chicago blues and one of the most influential guitar players of all time, he's a national treasure. He's joined onstage by jangly pop vets Guster and the legendary Booker T. Jones, backed by southern-rock band (and Muscle Shoals heirs apparent) the Drive-By Truckers.
