Today, the tireless button mavens of the Busy Beaver Button Company celebrate the grand opening of their new Logan Square headquarters with a festive open house. The long-running business, which recently received a grant from the city of Chicago to rehab its vintage storefront with eco-friendly flourishes like geothermal heating and cooling and recycled-tire rubber flooring, kicks off the occasion with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 1:30pm (presided over by 35th Ward Alderman Rey Colon). Other afternoon treats include cupcakes, champagne, and button tours galore (and, yes, you can even make your own). From 5-8pm, a Button-O-Matic Party features theremin guru Devin Davis and drinks, feting the new Currency series' super-affordable, 24-karat gold-plated buttons designed by ten artists.
