Heralding the start of autumn, the Renegade Craft Fair rolls into town each September to provide a much-needed reprieve from the glut of summer festivals whose goods are often more bric-a-brac than arts and crafts. The smorgasbord of handmade wares comes courtesy of more than 300 artists from all over the country, each specializing in crafts like ceramics, jewelry, paper printing, knitting and silk screen textiles. Aside from giving shoppers plenty of reasons to open their wallets, the Fair acts as a venue in which artists (many of whom only have an online presence) can interact and share ideas with their patrons and partners in the ever-growing DIY community.
