Just in time for the Chicago Jazz Festival, local scenesters Justin Dillard (organ) and Dave Miller (guitar) lead today's workshop on that most distinctive staple of soul-jazz, hard bop, and fusion. With an emphasis on accompanying guitar and complementing solo runs, the lesson offers aspiring Jimmy Smiths all the best tricks of the Hammond trade. Still, Dillard and Miller aren't afraid to stray from the traditional: they also showcase an array of techniques outside the standard organ trio setup. Space is limited, so register quickly.
