Tonight, two artists and a political scientist broach the weighty topic of how diversity resonates in the work of modern art and its audience. MCA Pritzker Director Madeleine Grynsztejn leads the discussion among interdisciplinary artist Tania Bruguera, author Melissa Harris-Lacewell, and painter Glenn Ligon. Bruguera brings to the table a body of work — quite literally — in which she has used herself as a canvas for her politically charged concepts, while Ligon is known for transforming selections of race-themed coloring books into text-based paintings. Use the panelists' thoughts on art and identity to launch your own debate at the post-lecture reception.
