Part of what makes local hip-hop duo Yea Big + Kid Static so entertaining is how little they seem to care about outsiders' perceptions. Contrary to so many image-conscious rappers, the pair shows few hang-ups, opting for quality-controlled, tech-party anthems over hand-me-down posturing. Just check the magnetic frenzy of their sophomore album, The Future's Looking Grim, which includes the excellent glitch/house-inspired single "The Nameless." Opening for YB + KS's first big show of 2010 are the dexterous, if slightly more conventional MCs Scheme (from the Molemen collective) and the straight-shooting graffiti-scene mainstay Seel Fresh.
