As part of the Chicago Loop Alliance's initiative to fill vacant downtown storefronts with pop-up art displays, the Chicago Urban Art Society and the Maxwell Colette Gallery present Love Flows Both Ways. The love here flows between two uneasy partners, the pauper of street culture and the prince of fine art. While fine art has hit the streets in the form of designer tee-shirts, skateboards, and handbags, street art has infiltrated the pristine environments of galleries and museums. This exhibit pits, among others, Shepard Fairey, Banksy, Space Invader, and Ray Noland against Damien Hirst, Paul Frank, and Takashi Murakami. Go see if the shared love of commercialization triumphs.
