Sandra Bernhard may be best remembered for her acidic '80s heyday as Madonna's best friend and David Letterman's favorite guest, but the outspoken diva has plenty to say about America's sorry track record since September 11, 2001. Her jaded, angst-ridden reports from the celebrity demimonde, meanwhile, are at once outrageous and heartfelt. The snarky provocatrix belts a tune here and tells a story there but mostly speaks truth to power, throwing more bombs than Peyton Manning with as high a completion rate. Bernhard takes a stage like a gang takes a street corner: without a hint of fear or mercy.
