Alison Bechdel

Few American cartoonists are as critically acclaimed and as widely read as Alison Bechdel. For nearly 30 years, she has drawn and authored Dykes To Watch Out For, considered a landmark representation of lesbian culture. However, Bechdel is most known in popular culture for Fun Home, her best-selling graphic memoir about her childhood and her fraught relationship with her father. Fun Home received numerous awards and was named number one in Time magazine's "10 Best Books of the Year" for 2006, a rare honor for a graphic novel.
