When the Chicago Tribune recently acknowledged Pastoral with a 2010 Good Eating Award, the nod emphasized what local cheese and wine aficionados have known for years: it's the place in Chicago to discover new flavors, develop unique pairings, or grab a quick house-approved combo. Pastoral's three locations regularly offer recommendable demos and classes, but this wallet-friendly special event at the their Loop outpost stands apart. House fromager Cesar Olivares and sommelier Jan Henrichsen lead the "information-filled walk-around tasting, featuring artisan cheeses, ports, spirits, and dessert wines." If there are better men for the job in Chicago, they're great at keeping a secret.
