Nathaniel Russell's show in Hyde Park felt vaguely familiar, and sure enough, without fully realizing it we've discovered his work a few times before, decking out Sub Pop album covers, the pages of Dwell, and goods from San Fran's great Mollusk Surf Shop. Here, per Home Gallery's M.O., Russell plants his screenprints and drawings in vibrant, hand-mixed inks throughout the house. A set of cosmic-leaning compositions occupies the living room; hand-painted, slyly humorous promotional posters (for emotional concepts, for the present moment) line the stairs and hallway; silkscreened works anchor the kitchen. But we're especially fond of Russell's library of imaginary books in the upstairs bedroom. The closing brunch today provides a comfortable setting to meet the artist.
