The Encyclopedia Show is not quite a poetry reading. It's also not quite an art show, nor a concert or play. It is, however, the zany, multifaceted brainchild of Robbie Q. Telfer (Director of Performing Arts at Young Chicago Authors) and Shanny Jean Maney. Each month, this eclectic duo picks a subject at random from the encyclopedia, then teams up with their arty pals and savvy students to showcase performances on a given topic (bears, explosives, and serial killers have all been past concerns). The result is a dazzling grab bag of Chicago performance art. For February, the group tackles "Explorers" at Adventure Stage Chicago (fka the Vittum Theater) in Noble Square.
