Amy Franceschini

Amy Franceschini has been described as a pollinator, a pragmatic propagandist, and a Net-art pioneer, and that's not to mention the more prosaic (but no less admirable) tags like artist, designer, and educator. Taking aim at the perceived conflict between humans and nature, and exploring the interplay of local politics and globalization, her projects take different forms, from objects such as a "Homeland Security Blanket" or a rainwater harvester made from salvaged materials to public initiatives such as her program re-imagining San Francisco's bygone Victory Gardens for a new era. Equally notable is the collaborative aspect of her practice, particularly as the co-founder of creative collectives like Futurefarmers and Free Soil.
