While message-board trollers argue whether Nick Thune is ripping off Demetri Martin or vice versa, it's probably best to remember that they're both kind of ripping off Steven Wright — who was doing the deadpan-delivery-over-acoustic-guitar thing long before either one — and enjoy Thune for what he is: a very funny young comedian. As with Aziz Ansari, a memorable turn in a Judd Apatow flick led to a higher profile and, with it, a solid comedy album (Thick Noon). Bits like "Weed Timeline" and "Iron Man" make his Funny Or Die feed well worth a subscription; and when he says he's leaning towards retiring his most famous routine, "Instant Messenger," it speaks to a professionalism and restlessness that belies his age and quick rise.

Lakeshore Theater says…

Lakeshore Theater says:
Nick Thune's stand-up and musical comedy began in his hometown of Seattle, Washington, where he claims he bombed. Therefore, he took his act to Los Angeles, a city that embraced his humor. Thune has performed for Comedy Central and on Late Night with Jay Leno, and has had acting roles in Knocked Up, Licensed to Wed, and Spring Breakdown.
