Unless you're a Sketchfest regular or devoted comedy aficionado, the Cody Rivers Show are probably the best comedy duo you've never heard of. That sounds like hyperbole until you've seen the staggeringly prolific Mike Mathieu and Andrew Connor in action. There's some of Bob & David's controlled anarchy, a bit of Tim & Micah anti-topical hyper-intellectualism; but it's their breakneck physicality which sets them apart. In past shows, spot-on choreography has played in service to everything from dance-floor rituals (with moves such as "The Chain Gang" and "Pick a Mnemonic Device") to titanium- and aluminum-industry negotiator squabbles. If their TV pilot ever finds a home, we'll likely be seeing a lot less of Cody Rivers live: an outcome that would be as unfortunate as it is deserved.
