Local drone faves White/Light close out their three-week sound-installation project with today's solo performance. A rogue's gallery of noise and avant-indie luminaries — Steve Shelley (Sonic Youth), John McEntire (Tortoise), Tim Kinsella (Joan of Arc) — have collaborated with the duo over the last few weeks, providing one-off accompaniment for the project. The band's oceanic movements lend themselves well to team-ups (see the excellent White/Lichens record), but Matt Clark (guitar) and Jeremy Lemos (electronics) have broadened their palette so far beyond simple feedback workouts, the subtleties and reversals easily stand alone. Minimalist tape loops feed into Nurse With Wound-style dark ambient; and blackened industrial floats underneath nervous scrapes and revs.
