"I'm constantly accused of trying to be offensive, and, honestly, I'm offended by that," wrote Jim Goad recently. It's easy to see why readers draw that conclusion: the author's notorious ANSWER Me! zine prompted an obscenity trial; his jailhouse jeremiad Sh*t Magnet overflows with misanthropy; and perhaps most notably, The Redneck Manifesto's sociological impetus is frequently blurred by Goad's rankle-'em-all fuming.
