The celebrated Chicago Jazz Ensemble, led by the great trumpeter Jon Faddis, comes to Pick-Staiger to perform Duke Ellington's jazz symphony Black, Brown, and Beige, described as pushing beyond jazz idioms into church music, deep blues, West Indian dance rhythms and more—a vast swath of black musical expression. The Ensemble will also feature a wonderful new composition by Northwestern jazz studies director Victor Goines. Benny: Then, Now, and Forever honors the great Benny Goodman in grand fashion and promises to be an exhilarating finale to our festival of celebrations.
