John Corigliano is celebrated for his compositions in over 100 chamber, vocal, choral, and orchestral works. His style has been called "unique and unmistakable," combining harmonic complexity with a melody of daring simplicity. His epic scale for wind ensemble is spotlighted in a concert featuring his Gazebo Dances and Symphony No. 3, Circus Maximus, as well as Richard Strauss’s Festmusik der Stadt Wien. Circus Maximus, the largest arena in the ancient world, is brought alive as the distinction of each note comments upon this massive and glamorous barbarity.
