“After a remarkably successful and critically acclaimed first run this spring, Strawdog remounts Red Noses — their 18-actor comedy about a troupe of ragtag clowns formed during the Black Plague in 14th-century France — at Theater on the Lake. Peter Barnes wrote the play in 1985, and its references to the AIDS crises and politics of the day are evident. Still, the show isn't dated. While it remains darkly funny and socially engaged, Strawdog's production has surprisingly moving resonations with current affairs, thanks in part to handy direction by The House Theater's Matt Hawkins.”
