A stylish, poetic adaptation with the kind of dark, hip edge that classic Greek theatre seems to require now. The final chapter of Dream Theatre and Jeremy Menekseoglu's ambitious Agon Trilogy, Orestes draws from a wide array of Greek mythologies, following Electra's daring journey to the underworld to rescue her titular dead brother, where her fate intertwines with that of Persephone, Pandora, Agamemnon, and even Medea. The production has been most acclaimed for its striking but simple technical theatre, with remarkable stage pictures — creating a darkly atmospheric vision of hell out of minimalist lumber — and a daring soundtrack.
