“Something of a Slumdance to Pitchfork's Sundance, the weekend-long B*tchpork Festival returns this year with scores of deeper-underground acts to match its major-indie defiance. As you might guess, the lineup at Mortville's performance space leans more raucous and outré than its Union Park competition: the great ex-Coughs no-wavers Cacaw, Chicago noise lynchpin Andy Ortmann, and Thymme Jones' venerable Cheer-Accident are just a fraction of the bands lending strong local pedigree. There are several promising national groups, too, including Brooklyn's sludgy, death-rattling Pop. 1280, who like CAVE this year, we wouldn't be too surprised to see make the BPK-to-P4K jump at some point.
