“Emily Dendinger's play about the writing of Frankenstein brings to life the infamous group of Romantics living together in the Alps — including Lord Byron, Percy Bysshe Shelley, and of course Mary Shelley — who responded to Byron's challenge to write an original, frightening ghost story, resulting in perhaps the most canonical horror novel in history. Dendinger's dialogue is inventive and Stoppard-esque in her vivid, updated reimagining (full disclosure: we've known Emily and followed her work for years). Jessica Hutchinson's direction is equally fresh, dispensing of British accents and costumed drama affect, while actors bring the energy and claws appropriate to the party of narcissistic, brilliant poets that the Romantics were.”
