“Like sausage, deep dish, and dirty politics, jazz is a unique part of Chicago's rich history. The Chicago Jazz Festival is as much of a staple in the Windy City as the music itself; and this year the lineup runs thicker than the deepest dish. This summer's attendees will enjoy both contemporary perspectives on jazz from the likes of Brad Mehldau, as well as classic pocket-playing from stalwarts like Ramsey Lewis. Possibly the coolest improvement to 2010's edition is the advent of multiple venues and an extended calendar. With concerts staged at Pritzker Pavilion, Petrillo Music Shell, and the Cultural Center, CJF 2010 serves up jazz of all kinds all over downtown.”
