“In February of 1978, Gordon Matta-Clark created "Circus, or the Carribean Orange" in what would be his last major work before his death later that year of pancreatic cancer. The MCA had acquired a building at 235 E Ontario and invited Matta-Clark to transform the building before its demolition, using his signature mode of cutting through doors, floors, and walls to reveal unexpected vistas. The exhibition documents Matta-Clark's work through photographs, written materials, and plans, giving a better idea of a project whose primary experience is lost to time and the wrecking ball.”
