“With new curators, new approaches to regionalism, and new methods of stagecraft, the MCA has a serious (and commendable) case of restless-institute syndrome. The latest development is MCA Screen, an ongoing series of media-based exhibitions, launched by Chicago-based artist David Hartt's film installation Stray Light. For this maiden showcase, Hartt implements time-capsule film, photographs and interior re-creation in the gallery, viewing the historic Johnson Publishing Company building on S Michigan Ave, home of Jet and Ebony, through a socioeconomic and cultural-political lens.”
