“As part of the gallery's A thing is a hole in a thing it is not, Gerard Byrne's provocative video installation based on minimalist art, the Renaissance Society presents a panel discussion between pastiche-appropriating contemporary sculptor Rachel Harrison and three preeminent art professors in fields related to minimalism and its legacy: James Meyer, author of Minimalism: Art and Polemics; Miwon Kwon, who writes on site specificity; and Chicago's own David Raskin, who's most known for his work on Donald Judd. The four participants examine the morphology and current relevance of minimalism, whose influence on contemporary art seems more germane than ever.”
