The DePaul Art Museum opens their brand new building with Re: Chicago, an exhibition that is crowd-sourced from the experts: Chicago's leading art historians, critics, and curators were asked to pick an artist from the city who is famous, was famous, or should be. The result is a compelling and historically minded show: a work from a well-known contemporary artist like Kerry James Marshall sits just around the corner from an obscure 18th century portraitist. The inclusion of work from artists who should be better known is particularly fun as you find yourself agreeing or disagreeing with the authorities.
