“Pulled from his yearlong drawing-a-day blog Coco River Fudge Street, the Hyde Park Art Center presents the work of David Leggett. Frequently scatological, strongly opinionated, often humorous, and highly knowledgeable about art, Leggett has created a strange and engrossing universe where references to rap stars like Trey Songz or Waka Flocka Flame appear next to Muppets. It isn't all light laughter though; Leggett's work regularly touches on serious political themes like the rise of the Tea Party, and makes visible (and risible) sexual and racial politics that are often cloaked in our society, but potent forces nonetheless.”
