Human rights advocate and poet Eliza Griswold examines the difficulty of writing prose or poetry about human crises in the January 2012 issue of Poetry. On January 19, Griswold discusses her life as a journalist and poet, speaks about the “human tragedy” of the Lampedusa refugee crisis, and reads her own poems. A reception follows.
