“On view concurrently with his drawing exhibition at the Hyde Park Art Center, this David Leggett exhibit at Western Exhibitions presents new large-scale paintings. He has kept the attitude from the other work, with racial tension and porn stars still included. However, death becomes the main subject; dead artists and dead art movements are pointedly alluded to in order to ask the question, what is still alive? What art? And what does art need to do, to make you feel? Does abstraction leave you cold? Leggett's work may make you laugh or may offend you, but either way he has evoked an emotional response.”
