“If you've ever witnessed children spontaneously dancing in front of Anish Kapoor's Cloud Gate (aka The Bean) then you probably understand the impetus behind Luftwerk's video and sound installation, which turns the area around the bean into something of a multi-colored dance floor, complete with music composed by Owen Clayton Condon from Chicago Third Coast Percussion. Numerous activities for all ages are planned to accompany the exhibition, so check out Millennium Park's website for full details. And if you doubt the artistic legitimacy of a dance floor, there's already a lineage — take a peek at Piotr Uklanski's Untitled (Dance Floor) from 1996.”
