“Cut Hands is the new, percussion-driven project from William Bennett, founder of infamous power-electronics agitators Whitehouse, and a controversial figure even within the noise/experimental communities that lend him most favor. In their '80s heyday, Whitehouse created horrible, atonal noise, self-described as "the most brutal and extreme music of all time" — and that was probably the least controversial of their provocations. Cut Hands is not without abrasion, but it's infinitely more user-friendly than you'd expect. Dubbed "afro noise," Bennett's new method weaves together dense polyrhythms, sampled African instruments, and electronics; and it often recalls frantic IDM and industrial as much as the ethnic drum music at its core. All said, the best sharp turn we could've asked of this guy.”
