Beloved by contemporary art junkies but accessible to all, Art 21 is a superb visual-art program from PBS, easily the best on TV. The upcoming sixth season continues to highlight artists making important contributions. The trailer promises conversations with Ai Weiwei, whose extra-judicial arrest by the Chinese government sparked international outrage last year (he is now free, though under house arrest), and Marina Abramovic, whose retrospective at the Guggenheim was all anyone could talk about in the summer of 2010 (for better or worse) and who will be lecturing on the future of performance art on February 16. It's anyone's guess about who will be featured in Gallery 400's advance screening, but that surprise is half the fun.
