Like the theater’s namesake, the programmers at Gene Siskel Film Center devote themselves to quality cinema from across the spectrum. Any given month, you can catch forgotten gems, art-house experiments, locally tied features, classic films, and fascinating docs. You’d be tempted to call them populist, but the intelligent line-ups never pander -- again, like Siskel himself. Luckily for Chicago cinephiles, the balcony is never closed for long.
