Mark McPherson was born in Perth in 1975 and has spent several years studying and working abroad. He received his BA in photomedia from Edith Cowan University in 2000 and is currently completing an honors degree. He has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions across Australia, the Netherlands, and Germany. Most recently, he launched the publication and associate exhibition Hijacked Volume 1: Australia and America at the Photography Festival of Fremantle 2008, in Berlin at Neunplus Gallery, in Stuttgart at Fluctuating Images New Media Space, in New York at the Arm Gallery, and in Sydney at the Australian Centre for Photography. McPherson is currently collaborating with artists and commissioning work for consecutive volumes of Hijacked and Made in Australia — projects that aim to create cultural and artistic networks of exchange between contemporary Australian and international photographers.
