Michelle Blade's body of work focuses on moments where social hierarchy dissolves and quick collective accomplishments occur. Whether during a concert or within a commune, these created moments point to cultural desires of utopia, transcendence, and authentic experience. Michelle lives and works in San Francisco where she is currently working on her MFA at the California College of the Arts. In 2003 she received her BA at Loyola Marymount and has shown in Los Angeles, El Salvador, Portland, San Francisco, Virginia, New York, and Boston. Her work has been published in the New York Times magazine, Esquire, The Age of Feminine Drawing, Curvy II & III, Faesthetic, the SF Weekly, and Empty magazine.
