The Red Ladies are on their way. Who are they, and what do they want? Do their stilettos pose a threat to national security?
An undisclosed number of identically dressed women wearing red head scarves, red stilettos, sunglasses and carrying red vanities mysteriously descend on key landmarks in the city. They're out on the streets gathering evidence. They are witnesses.
When the Red Ladies arrive in a city, they transform it, appearing on rooftops, in doorways and telephone boxes, in places of political or architectural interest. The Red Ladies developed their first performance at the National Theatre Studio and have since travelled to Warwick Arts Centre, Trafalgar Square and Hackney Empire.
Red Ladies was created by London's Clod Ensemble and is produced in association with the Onassis Programme, which commissions and produces contemporary international theatre work inspired by classical drama.
The Red Ladies are appearing at the ICA on Tuesday, 3 June and Wednesday, 4 June. Read our listing for more information.
