Sarah Howell works mainly with fashion imagery. Collaborating with photographers, she begins with a collage base, and then, using various mixed-media techniques, she scans drawings and paintings to create a textured artwork. Photographic collages are smattered with graffiti and energized by vivid illustration, creating a dark, often edgy, but always beautiful and bright result.
Howell is originally from Sydney and is represented by Debut art. To date, she has had her work featured in many magazines including the Face, Graffik, Tank, Oyster, Gloss, Flaunt, Digit, Computer Arts, Observer, Maxim, 125, Dedicate, and Illustrated Ape. She has worked closely with record companies such as EMI, Polydor, Universal/Island, and GSL creating album covers, as well as bands' stage design and merchandise. Commissions also include Penguin Books, Orange phones, Siemens phones, Nike, Bodyshop, Diet Coke, Vodaphone, VH1, MTV, the Grammy Awards, Luella Bartley, PPQ, and London Fashion Week. She has also created campaigns for Nokia, Martini, Jameson, and Procter & Gamble to name a few.
