Wendell Gladstone’s recent paintings are an amalgamation. Elements of minimalism, goth, neo classicism etc. are all woven together to construct one composition. Although the sources are varied, theyare not randomly selected. Unlike the irrationality of Dada, his process tends to be more orchestrated – a reordering of chaos. By manipulating the inherent attributes and signifiers of the sourced material he is able to construct new meanings and tell new stories.
