Ex Cops celebrate the release of True Hallucinations out 1.22.13
If you haven’t already been keeping tabs on Ex Cops, it’s about time to launch an investigation. The first signing of Other Music Recording Co. back in April 2012, the Brooklyn outfit finally has a full-fledged LP to tout, True Hallucinations. Led by Brian Harding (ex-Hymns) and Amalie Bruun (ex-Minks), Ex Cops began as a bedroom project in 2011. Now counting five members, the group draws inspiration from a variety of sources including vintage British and New Zealand indie pop, Factory Records, the Feelies, and the guitar-genuity of Teenage Fanclub. True Hallucinations, which is named for a book by Terence McKenna, is packing a splendid selection of addictive pop songs: some sunny, some hazy, and all warranting your undivided aural attention. Blending studio and home recordings, the album came together under producers Dan Shapiro and John Siket (Sonic Youth, Blonde Redhead). Tonight, Ex Cops celebrates their stellar debut with Hunters and Gambles opening.
