As part of its Books and Ideas series, the Onassis Cultural Center NY will present a special dialogue on tyranny and freedom in today's world, featuring Waller Newell, professor of political science and philosophy at Carleton University; Ryan Balot, Professor of Political Science at the University of Toronto; and Barry Strauss, Bryce and Edith M. Bowmar Professor in Humanist Studies at Cornell University.

The discussion, marking the recent publication by Cambridge University Press of Professor Newell's book Tyranny: A New Interpretation will focus on the contest in today's world between tyranny and freedom, touching on the history of democratic self-government in ancient Greece and the threats posed to democracy today.
