Taste the amazing foods of Ghana for a great cause
You're cordially invited to A Taste of Ghana, an evening to sample the wonderful flavors of Ghana, through which we wish to spotlight and create an awareness of an inspiring organization, Sharecare Ghana.
The evening's chef is Charles Cann, the extremely talented food artist and writer behind Tropical Ghana, who has graciously offered to cook pro bono in support of Sharecare Ghana. You will savor delicious Ghanaian-cuisine-inspired bites Charles has conceived using fresh and wholesome ingredients. Our sampling includes slow-cooked braised beef served on Charles' signature cocoa-plantain bread, jollof rice, roasted chicken, a selection of salads, wine and other beverages. The event will be hosted at Bat Haus, an event and performance art space, in Bushwick, Brooklyn, half a block off the Jefferson Stop on the L Train.
Also known as Sharecare4u, Sharecare Ghana was founded to empower people suffering from autoimmune and neurological conditions in Ghana. Launched in 2008, primarily as a patients' support group, Sharecare Ghana has since evolved into an organization that not only creates awareness of the spectrum of autoimmune and neurological conditions (Multiple Sclerosis, Lupus, Type 1 Diabetes, Tranverse Myelitis, etc.), but also raises funds for research into these conditions and advocates on access for persons with disability in Ghana.
One of Sharecare Ghana's successes is the establishment of a therapeutic center for children with neurological conditions. The center now needs to be equipped. Your $30 ticket contribution will fund speech therapy, physiotherapy, and some of the following equipment: therapeutic mats, physio balls, toys, static cycles for kids, a treadmill, walkers, a standing frame, corner seat, wedges, gaiters, and an office desk and chair.
