The West Berkeley Design Loop, an alliance of 30 independent home improvement businesses, is teaming up with the Kala Art Institute and local fine artists and craftspeople to host ArtHop! Friday, November 8, 5-7PM. Hop around the various Design Loop locations to find inspiring artists specializing in glasswork, sculpture, photography, mosaic, and decorative arts in collaboration with local merchants. Discover re-use art at Ohmega Salvage, eco-art at Keetsa, bottle crafting at Metro Lighting, in addition to other artists in participating businesses in The Loop.
West Berkeley's concentration of home improvement retailers, coupled with local artisans, gives people attending the ArtHop! fun and interesting experiences unique to The Design Loop. Organizer Julie Orchard of the Stained Glass Garden is excited about the opportunity to showcase these artists. "We've matched up local talent with retail spaces to give them an audience of appreciative homeowners."
The West Berkeley Design Loop is centrally located in the Bay Area, accessible from I-80 at the Ashby, University, and Gilman Street exits. Merchant members offer unique products and expert advice in convenient locations. "These local resources can help make your home as unique and interesting as you are," says Mark Pearsall of Truitt & White and treasurer of the Design Loop. "Come explore West Berkeley and be inspired!"
